In a recent Instagram post (June 2016), Rose McIver told us that she finished her screenplay and it was definitely time for her to go back to New Zealand.

We now know that she was working on a screenplay for producer Peter Salmon, who now lives in Australia. Rose explains that she WILL NOT PLAY in this project, but that it’s something she has written AS A WRITER.

Especially considering McIver put the final touches on a screenplay a week earlier. “I’m very excited — it’s with a director who actually lives in Australia now, Peter Salmon so it’s sitting in his inbox, waiting to be read,” she reveals.

“Some of the funniest things are borne out of situations that could be quite traumatic or quite morbid and being able to see the light and the dark in those situations is a skill set.”

“It’s a fairly different tone to iZombie; it’s very dark, gritty — there’s definitely some comedic elements, but I wouldn’t call it a comedy. It’s something that I’ve written as a writer, it’s not something for me to act in. It’s been a really good exercise, I hope it gets to come to life soon.”

MARCH 2019: (source) Writing her material is a new focus for Rose; plus she has a project in the pipeline that Kiwi director Peter Salmon is due to direct, and together they’re working on getting a film off the ground soon. “There’s so much talent and so many stories we should be sharing, especially in New Zealand.”

AUGUST 2019: (source) I asked Adam, who attended the Fan Expo Boston convention this month, if he could ask Rose if she was still working on her screenplay project for Peter Salmon. She said yes and that she is just finishing it actually.
