The Project
“I am passionate about community and using your strengths and resources to help people in need.” – Rose McIver
This is a quote from kiwi actress Rose McIver that always inspired me. At the end of the year (December 2023), Rose McIver Source will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and Rose McIver her 35th birthday. Having supported multiple fundraisers in honor of Rose, I’ve always been inspired to organize something of my own. As my fan page and site prepares to celebrate an important anniversary, I felt it was time to make a difference and create a memorable and impactful project.
That’s why, I have created a fundraising page via the New Zealand site givealittlenz, where the donations we collect will be donated directly to several NZ organizations that I chose.
[The page will be open until October 9, 2023, the day before Rose’s birthday.] I planned to run this until October 9, 2023 but as I’ll be in South Korea at the end of September until Rose’s birthday, this project will be closed on September 20, 2023. I did not indicate a specific amount to reach, whatever the amount we reach, it will already be a very wonderful success.
Participate in the fundraising
I ask you one last favor — please keep this project secret until Rose’s birthday on October 10, 2023. You can share it with your friends, on your social networks, but please do not directly identify Rose. The goal is to keep thist secret until the very end.
About the 3 organizations
Givealittlenz gave me the opportunity to choose three organizations to which the funds will be donated. Here are the three organizations that were chosen:
- Auckland Sexual Abuse HELP Foundation (website | facebook | instagram) : HELP provides specialised support services to survivors of sexual abuse in the community and prevention programmes. (OVERVIEW)
- Mental Health Foundation (website | facebook | twitter | instagram) : Working towards creating a society free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health & wellbeing. (OVERVIEW)
- InsideOUT (website | facebook | twitter | instagram) : InsideOUT Kōaro is a national charity providing education, resources, consultation and support for anything concerning rainbow and takatāpui communities. They offer guidance, professional development and workshops for schools, workplaces and community organisations across Aotearoa.
Special thanks
Thank you to all the Rose’s fans who have followed me for years (I am sure you will recognize yourself) and who are an incredible support for me and for Rose.
Thank you Joel H. for guiding me and approving the choices I made for this project.
Thank you Rebecca B. for your support and for correcting a few things in this project as English is not my native language.
Thank you Nomi from givealittlenz for your help and allowing this project even if I’m not living in NZ.
To Rose, this is our way of saying MERCI. From your performances on screen to you activism off-screen, you have always been a role model and always inspired us.
