If she is given the free hand to make some new casting on the upcoming third season of the American police procedural comedy-fiction drama “iZombie” on The CW, Rose McIver, who plays the show’s lead character, Liv Moore, would like to have her real-life friends Jennifer Morrison and Melanie Lynskey become part of the series even as guests.
More importantly, if she is to choose an actor who shall be playing his dad in the TV series, she wants no other than veteran comedy actor Bill Murray for it.
McIver made the disclosure during the San Diego ComicCon held in July in light of reports that Season 3 of “iZombie” shall finally shed light on Liv Moore’s family background. It could be recalled that Liv’s mother and brother were featured in Season 1 of “iZombie,” but viewers were never able to see her dad in the show.
The pretty actress has been making a case to have the original “Ghostbusters” actor play her father in “iZombie” by saying that she really wants Bill Murray. She even joked that the producers should get him and clear his schedules just to make sure that Bill Murray accepts the offer, reports the Parent Herald.
Showrunner Rob Thomas confirmed recently the Liv Moore’s family was deliberately omitted from the storylines because the show has gotten bigger with its series regulars and there was not enough leeway to put the family’s story on the show.
homas also revealed that they have been planning to bring Melanie Lynskey on “iZombie” especially with stories where McIver will have to use her native New Zealand accent for Liv.
Both McIver and Lynskey are from New Zealand and are real close friends. But Lynskey is working on several movies and TV shows so it is difficult to bring her into “iZombie.”
It is still not clear how the show intends to bring in Jennifer Morrison to the hit TV series but since it is a fictional comedy series, it is likely that the showrunner and the writers of the show would find a way.
A love triangle in the horizon
One other thing that is preoccupying fans while waiting for Season 3 of “iZombie” is the report saying that there shall be a focus on the brewing love triangle among Peyton, played by Aly Michalka, Ravi, played by Rahul Kohli, and Blaine, played by David Anders.
While Blaine and Ravi joined hands to save Peyton in Season 2, it is only Blaine who bravely fought Mr. Boss’ henchman in the last season’s finale.
It ended with Peyton hugging Blaine that made Ravi jealous and upset. Hence, it is strongly believed that a love triangle between the three will be seen in “iZombie” Season 3, reports Game & Guide.
Peyton shall reportedly have a hard time choosing between Ravi and Blaine in “iZombie” Season 3. She disclosed that her character’s heart definitely says Ravi because there’s that friendship and there’s that solid rapport that they have but she thinks Peyton is physically attracted to Blaine
The actress also added that there’s something about Blaine’s personality that attracts Peyton. It might be that he is a total opposite of her role’s traits that makes her like him more.
But since Ravi is about to confess his real feelings for Peyton to Blaine, things are going to be more complicated for their lives in “iZombie” Season 3.
In “iZombie,” zombie Liv Moore heavily relies on her visions after eating the brains of deceased victims to solve murder cases with Detective Clive Babineaux, played by Malcolm Goodwin.
But the visions are sporadic and short-lived. However, those are normally enough for both Clive and Liv to apprehend the suspect or perpetrator of the crime.
At the forensic laboratory of the police department, Liv draws support from Ravi, who was actually the first one to find out that Liv was already a zombie since Season 1 and has been feeding her brains of murder victims in order for her not to turn into a vicious creature.
Since Season 2, Ravi has been trying to find a cure to the zombie affliction disease suffered by Liv, Major, played by Robert Buckley, and Blaine.
He was able to momentarily find a cure that turned Major and Blaine into normal people again but it eventually wore off, thus turning them back into zombies again.
Reports have it that in Season 3 of “iZombie,” Ravi shall be able to make a medical discovery and a different kind of cure for his three friends.
Instead of finding a real cure, Ravi shall stumble upon a recipe to make zombie visions more vivid and longer lasting.
Although it would not be a significant discovery as far as the main zombie protagonists of the show are concerned, but it’s inclusion into the story will probably be used as a plot device to allow the zombie characters to imbibe a particular personality from brains not just for a single episode but for two or more.
As far as the real cure for the zombie affliction is concerned, Ravi will continue to find and perfect it in Season 3, confirms showrunner Rob Thomas.
